The Problem of Religion.4

"You steal from the poor and the widows; and then, to conceal your true intentions, you make long pious prayers.

You decree:

"The temple is unimportant. What is important is the treasury!"

But which is greater:

the gold in the treasury, or the temple that sanctifies the gold?

And you say:

"The altar is not important; but the gift that is upon it is important."

You are both foolish and blind.

Which is greater:
the gift on the altar, or the altar that sanctifies the gift?"

Whoever honors the altar honors it and all things upon it. And whoever honors the temple honors him who dwells within its walls. And they who honor heaven, honor the throne of God, and he who sits upon it."
--Jesus

Persons, throughout history, who hold the "reigns of power" have a similar view of life: they are bigger, faster, stronger then everyone else!

The USA is in the midst of a titanic struggle between the "ruling elite" and the average citizen.  The Power Worshipers told us that a child in the womb is not worth protecting. They told us we don't know the meaning
image from ultimateclassicrock.com
of marriage.  They tell us we don't know when a man is a man and a woman is a woman.  They tell us that we don't know how to raise our own children.  They "permit" us to own property and tell us how much we can own and what we can do with it.  They tell us God has no place in our public discourse, in our schools, in our workplace, in our homes.  They tell us we are intolerant, racist, ______phobic, and criminal if we disagree.

And what are their "true intentions?" The same intentions employed by the prince of the power of the air; the same motives used to tempt Jesus: power and glory.

But we are getting to the point where they almost no longer concern themselves with hiding their true intentions! The wicked still strut about freely when what is vile is honored among men.  When there is no resistance, no voice calling in the wilderness, no one pleading with men to repent, are we not in a worse state than the first?

Sanctifying the Gift and the Gold.

Throughout Israel's history, as recorded in the Old Testament, the nation went through cycles of devotion and defiance to the One True God.  The remarkable thing is that God found ways to bring the nation back to himself, usually after a period of national suffering at the hands of foreign invaders.  This suffering softened the hearts of the people to the point they would listen, believe, repent and care about the things of God: righteousness, justice, truth and love.

Jesus called out the spiritual leaders of Israel to remind them that priorities can easily become confused and the allure of power and glory can be awfully hard to resist.  He calls us to pray for our leaders.  Let us pray that:

  • they realize that the frustration so many Americans feel about the profligate use of our national treasures is a reflection of leaders who deem themselves unaccountable to both God and people.  Pray that they rededicate themselves to honoring God, not with lip service, but sincerely from the heart.
  • they would align themselves with God's priorities and principles for godly leadership especially in the sacred trust of life, law & property.
...before God has to use foreign invaders to soften our hearts!

The Problem of Religion.3

"To those who set themselves up to be your judges I say, judgment upon you, false teachers. Hypocrites! You, who will never enter the kingdom of heaven, bar the very way to those who long to go in. You travel across land and sea to gain one proselyte; and when that person is won, you make them two times more the children of hell than you are yourselves. Do you not merit great damnation?"
--Jesus

"Mama always told me that I should play nice
She didn't know you when she gave me that advice..."
from "Done" by The Band Perry

Merciful that Jesus didn't always play nice.

Let His words sink in:
"You will NEVER enter the kingdom of heaven."
   "FALSE TEACHERS! HYPOCRITES!"
"Two Times More The Children of Hell Than You Are!"

'Beware of hypocrisy,' the Lord says, 'for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed, neither hid, that shall not be known.' What is hypocrisy? The desire to look better than you are; the hiding of things you do, because you would not be supposed to do them, because you would be ashamed to have them known where you are known. The doing of them is foul; the hiding of them, in order to appear better than you are, is fouler still. The man who does not live in his own consciousness as in the open heavens, is a hypocrite-and for most of us the question is, are we growing less or more of such hypocrites? Are we ashamed of not having been open and clear? Are we fighting the evil thing which is our temptation to hypocrisy?" -MacDonald, The Final Unmasking

How are Disciples of Hypocrites two times more the children of Hell? Because they lose the trappings of righteousness and turn on those who would call them to account. They are the ones who call evil good and good evil.  They are the ones who justify the unnatural, heinous and immoral in the name of "progress".

Case in point: the USA just passed the 43rd anniversary of the infamous Supreme Court decision, Roe v Wade, giving "legal" cover for the murder of 59 million innocents in the name of "women's rights". If that hypocrisy weren't bad enough, today's disciples of Abortion, advocate the most hellish of practices: dissecting and selling baby body parts using taxpayer money to accomplish their abhorrent work. Rather than these false teachers getting their due and sitting in prison for their crimes, the brave souls who exposed the atrocities are now on trial!

Two times the children of hell...who will never enter the kingdom of heaven.

Judgment upon you, False Teachers!
You merit great damnation!

America, if we don't repent, we merit great damnation!

The Problem of Religion.2

"Beware of false teachers who stand before you wearing sheep's clothing. Beneath their guise hides a ravenous wolf.
They follow their true master, the evil one, and do as he commands them. He was a murderer from the beginning, and never told the truth, because there was never truth in him. When he lies, he speaks in character, for he is a liar, and the father of lies."
--Jesus

The familiar flashing lights ahead of me alerted that the school bus was picking up another student.  I watched as the child left the tender comfort and security at his mother's side, walked a few steps, turned, waved then boarded. A moment like that is easy to slight for its seeming insignificance, yet it is filled with a priceless eternal treasure: trust.

Trust conquers anxiety.  Trust builds bridges and strengthens bonds. Trust unites.  Trust heals. Trust returns the investment of hope.

Trust is itself built of Truth.

Nothing destroys trust more than a lie.

No lie is more powerful than that wrapped in the trappings of truth.

A worldwide phenomenon is occurring under the guise of the "Happy Spirit", eudaemonism, the idea that the highest ethical goal is happiness and personal well-being. The lie that the best guide for right action is good feelings.
Translation: if it feels good it must be right. If it is right, it must be true.

We watch with despair as The Liar --with the aid of a colorful, whimsical, powerful visual media-- informs, shapes, squeezes and molds a culture, devouring the soul of a nation as it devours the conscience of its people.

The salt of truth, having lost its saltiness, lies trampled on the shifting sands of a withering society.  Where is the Truth of Marriage?  Of Sex? Of Conception? Of Life? Of Manhood? Of Beauty? Of Nuturing? Of Family? Of Virtue? Of Courage? Of the Nature of things?

The ravenous wolf demands submission not tolerance or equality.
"A law was just passed in Washington mandating that bathrooms and locker room across the state be made accessible to "transgenders." That isn't new, although this is the first example of something like it being enacted statewide all at once. But the really incredible part is that the law also makes it ILLEGAL for a business owner or landlord to "misgender" a gender-confused person. In other words, if a cross dressing man wants to be called "she," the rule states that employers and property owners must comply or face legal ramifications. They must verbally endorse and affirm a lie, or endure the consequences.

In New York City, a similar ordinance was just passed. Just like Washington, business owners must use the "preferred pronoun" when talking to or about "transgenders," or risk a 250 thousand dollar fine. This is serious stuff, folks. This is the government forcing people to verbally affirm untruths. I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like it.

We talk about political correctness, but it's important to understand what the term means. These days, the PC police are out to impose falsehoods. Political correctness is a tool liberals use to undermine and ultimately banish truth." -Blogger Matt Walsh
In God We Trust.  In God We Know Trust because in God We Know Truth. A generation of Americans may never enjoy its tender comfort and security. We find ourselves turning, waving, boarding a bus to despair, fear, mistrust and distrust.

What can the righteous do when the foundations are destroyed?  Keep seeking and speaking the Truth. Especially against this lie. The highest ethical, spiritual, emotional, mental, physical goal is not happiness it is Oneness

Oneness with our Creator/Father/Savior/Friend.

Oneness prayed for, bought and paid for by our Redeemer, Jesus The Christ!

THE PROBLEM OF RELIGION.1

"Take heed; beware of living your life on religious "food."
By now you have certainly forgotten the five loaves that fed the five thousand, with twelve baskets left over, and the seven loaves that fed the four thousand and the plenty that remained.

But I am not speaking to you about earthly food. No, I have come to warn you against feeding on the ideas and false teachings of those who market in religion.

In vain such people worship me, teaching as doctrines what are merely the inventions of men. Preoccupied with their own superstitions, they have forgotten the commandments of God."
--Jesus

Beware.

Oops. We forgot to Beware.

We forget that we don't remember things.

We don't remember there is a difference between "faith in"
and "belief about."

We don't remember that what a man believes is how he lives.

We don't remember that a preponderance of opinion, no matter how considerable, is insignificant to an act of faith, no matter how simple.

We don't remember that to know doctrines and theologies is no substitute for obedience.

We don't remember that to obey the commandments of God is to understand.

Or maybe we never knew...

2016 Resolute Righteousness

"In your majesty ride out victoriously
for the cause of truth and meekness and righteousness; let your right hand teach you awesome deeds!"
-Psalm 45:4

Do you need a cause in 2016?

How about this one:

  • Truth
  • Meekness
  • Righteousness
"I have been initiated into the company of those whose work is to rid the world of evil...beginning with myself." George MacDonald

Truth:
-allowing the Spirit of God to expose whatever in me is not lovely and keeps me from reaching my potential to love and be loved.

Meekness:
-accepting his good judgment with a heart of repentance and obedience.

Righteousness:
-doing what He shows me is the right way and letting him produce a fruitful and satisfying life through me.
As for me, I shall behold your face in righteousness; when I awake, I shall be satisfied with your likeness.  --Psalm 17:15

My prayer for fellow followers of Jesus in 2016 is that together we might

  • Mean what Jesus means
  • Do what Jesus does
  • Be known, like Jesus, not by religion, but by righteousness
  • Be His Righteousness, not measured by the law of popular sentiment or political will, but Righteousness measured by the Law of Love.
Awesome!

The Return.12

"Blessed are those servants,
whom the Lord,
when he comes,
finds
   ready
      and anticipating
          his arrival
even if he should come in the middle of the night,
or at dawning of the day.

Truly I say, that he will adorn himself in his banquet clothes, and invite such servants to sit down with him at the table of feasting, rising himself to serve them as honored guests!"
--Jesus

The greatly anticipated new installment of an old franchise, Star Wars, opened to a record $130 million first day ticket sales! It is projected to gross over $2 billion in sales worldwide by the time it is has run it's theater debut...

Talk about ready and anticipating an arrival!

Although I've never personally camped out in front of a storefront before Black Friday, or a theater anticipating a movie premier, or a ticket office before a concert, I can appreciate that kind of excitement. We do know about being ready and anticipating something for which we have a deep longing, don't we?  Whether a new movie or the birth of a baby, a job promotion, the purchase of a new home or car, it is part of our human experience.

I have, however, experienced the disappointment of underestimating the wonder of an event for which I wasn't earnestly longing; of wishing I'd been more fervent in inviting others to join in that wonder!

Rooted in our human experience are the words Jesus uses to describe the honor bestowed on those who simply live their lives ready and anticipating His return:
  • Blessed
  • Servants
  • Lord
  • Comes
  • Ready
  • Anticipating
  • Midnight
  • Dawn
  • Adorn
  • Banquet Clothes
  • Invite
  • Table of Feasting
  • Rising to Serve
  • Honored Guests
And yet, just as all the treasures of universal wisdom are hidden in Him, so also the full, experiential meaning of this event cannot be fully grasped until that moment in time!  The real question is: will we be dressed in the banquet clothes of deep satisfaction, or the discomfort of disappointment that we weren't nearly as passionate in inviting others to join us in the single most wonder-filled event of all time?

May the worldwide anticipation of a two hour movie pale in comparison of our longing for the return of the Eternal King!

The Return.11

Prepare your heart
for in the hour that you least expect it,
the Son of Man will come.

Hear the story of ten bridesmaids, who carried their lamps out to meet the bridegroom to illuminate the path
of his arrival. This group was comprised of five wise, and five foolish women. Those that were foolish remembered their lamps, but not extra fuel; while the wise carried both their lamps and added fuel. The bridegroom's coming was delayed, and they began to grow tired and fall asleep.

Finally, at midnight, there arose a cry:
"Behold, the bridegroom approaches!
The time has come to go out to meet him."

Hurriedly, the bridesmaids began preparing their lamps. Then the foolish said to the wise: "Give us some of your fuel; for our lamps have burned out in the night."

"We cannot," the wise replied, "for there is not enough fuel for both your lamps and ours. Go quickly, wake those that sell fuel, and buy extra for yourselves.

But while they were off searching for fuel, the bridegroom came; and those who were ready went with him to the marriage celebration, and behind them the door was shut.

Some time later, the foolish bridesmaids returned and began to call out plaintively:
"Lord, Lord, let us in."

But he answered and said:
"Truly I say to you, I do not know who you are." --Jesus

In case you missed Him the first time...you aren't alone!

"And the Father who sent me has himself borne witness about me. His voice you have never heard, his form you have never seen, and you do not have his word abiding in you, [the evidence for this is:] you do not believe the one whom he has sent." John 5:37-38

Which is a worse condition:
  • TO not recognize the Son of God
  • OR to not be recognized by the Son of God?
  • TO not be capable of knowing what in the quality of His voice or the grace in his movement reveals the Goodness of God
  • OR to be denied entrance into that grace-filled company because you were incapable of revealing His Life in you?
  • TO never have entered into the companionship of love, trust and obedience with the Lord of Light and Life
  • OR to be exposed as a pretender?
  • TO never have started the journey, built the tower, confront the enemy
  • OR to be mocked for not finishing?
  • TO never have had the light in you
  • OR the light in you flickers, falters and fails over time?
